question 6

For our filming the instruments to our filming procedure was:
• Camera (My canon XHAI camera) this was a useful asset to our filming process as it ensured the best quality of filming. The camera had a large amount of technical aspects such as different settings to ensure that filming would be both easy but have the ability to capture what we imagined the story to be like.
• Tripod- this was a key factor as it ensured perfect balanced shots on, unbalanced grounds through such methods as the spirit level. We had a lot of difficult shots that we first attempted without a tripod so we obtained a true understanding as to how difficult it was to operate the camera without a tripod
• Tracks- were also useful as the helped as keep a steady shot while moving, keeping a steady hand with each step allowed a effect point of view shot while following a person in a hurry this didn’t truly glimpse or capture what we wanted. By adding the tracks we were able to show a really good shot with a lens flare this added effect to the shot and gave it more of a professional outlook
• Adobe premiere was used for editing this software was good as it allowed to see and make varied changes to our film.
While we where filming we found it to be really important to keep an eye on the spirit level this was constantly checked and adjusted once the camera was set unto the tripod. For the majority of our shots we used automatic settings where there was a neutral and even outlook automatically set on the camera but for one shot we changed it to manual settings at the scene and environment was seen to be too bleak and dull also it did not capture much sunlight as due to the positioning in the environment after altering the brightness and white balance of the scene we checked the camera’s LCD monitor to see if everything was looking good. We ensured that we added a wide range of shots whilst filming including shots of varied angles and movements the camera was effective when doing these shots such as zoom in and zoom out in our first shot of the mask, where implemented really well with practice. While filming i also learnt such things as to be patient to get the camera rolling so telling the camera to act a few seconds after action was to called to ensure hat the camera had focused before taking the shot, i also learned that to make sure the whole shot was captured the actor would a have to freeze for a few seconds after the action was played in order to make sure that the whole seen was captured.

when editing it was difficult to come to terms with what to do with everything after it was digitised but with the help of my team we where able to understand the basics such as saving everything in bins and understanding the uses of time lines, we learnt the two different types of cutting which where splicing where you would click on the little razor tool and delete things and drag and drop where you would grab things and move them to the destined place in which it would suit best. We added effects to our work such as a time lapse this gave our film more of a modern effect thus bringing more attraction and creativity.

When making our film we encountered a few problems that we had to adjust and fix, one problem was that we wanted to a low angled shot looking up at Ryan but it turned out that to do such a shot we would need to be underground so we had to alter the show and do a slow zoom out. Another problem we had was shot of the calendar this shot was really hard to do with a steady hand in such an acute angle, so we also added a tripod to this shot it didn’t make it too brilliant as there angle was still difficult to shoot from and the ground was not fair or even so it took quite a bit of time to set the spirit level. When setting up our film on adobe premiere it was especially hard as it was the first time we were introduced to such editing software so doing things like adjusting duration and speed of shots where slowly encountered but we learnt all the aspects in order to place and position our piece well.

We used such filming techniques as rule of thirds this allowed us to maintain and continuously show the seen in the perception of what the viewers are use to we did this in our shot of the man seeing the ninja it allowed a creative angle to the viewing yet maintain the same viewing as the other shots. we also used continuity we wanted to make sure that everything matched each other so we made sure that the positioning of the mise en scene would coincide with everything else; we did this with our continuity sheet which we noted everything we did in that shot and the position of each object. Match on action was another technique this was to show a dramatic side of our story as we had the man step into the frame and another angle of the man stepping into it.
