question 5

Our research showed us to be looking at something in the children’s comedy department; from our research we discovered that due to the story line the best suited genre would be based around children mainly boys roughly the age around 7-13 this is because the film reaches a broad set of imagination and can relate to something around this storyline of having a fantasy and not having people around you understand that, we would capture our audience as due to having a out of the box idea of a child bringing his fantasy’s of ninjas into real life. The theme that we attached to this was called challenge this is because it is about a boy who is cast out of civilization as he knows it with no-one to help apart from himself so he burdens himself in his fantasies he makes a parallel universe were both his ninja dreams and reality coincide and goes out and faces him. The audience can relate to this as they may have had some sort of encounter with bullies of pest and people haven’t been they so they would be left alone with their thoughts.
In our film poster the colors used were dark and Gothic, it included Black this was to reinforce the mystery of the character as shadowy black tends to do and red was to represent his pride and dominance of the character, and is accented my white on the typography. These colors were used as we felt they would be more appeal to our target audience, it would also allow them to second guess what the film was about giving them a little inside knowledge before watching seeing the film. In the second poster we included a little more color this was to brighten the mood to attract a varied audience of both males and females of the teenage age ranging from 11-17. You would see our film posters in such locations as TV adverts during children’s programs and family programs this would work well as it would focalize the target audience of children and as they are more likely to go with their parents it would introduce the parents to the film. You would also see the film posters on billboards for drivers with children who may spot it on long traffic days; children’s comics would also be somewhere to place ads. I feel that the poster attracts its audience well it allows a more intriguing line that will make the audience think and the view rating would out shadow and competitors as they are vary high also done and reviewed by well known critics. The two posters attract their audience well ad due to the color scheme and factors such as the main character it shows a bit and adds knowledge as to what the film is about but those not give much away so still allows a little confusion which will interest the viewers.
The camera shot that we used to start our opening sequence with was a zoom out from an extreme close-up of a black object you can also see objects behind the black object which looks like a shiny silver object in an acute angle, by doing this we start the film with a question of what’s that, this starts the film with tension as the audience do not know what Is being projected, this starts the opening sequence by grabbing the attention of the viewers it allows them to be more intrigued and wait for answers. Following that shot is a panning shot in this shot it starts with a name of an actor ‘Ryan Williams’ this was edited in to add a factor of creativity in the bottom left hand side of the shot the name fades as the pan moves towards the shot it shows a foam sword with a A4 note with ‘Fight Me’ written on it after panning towards that the shot disappears into another credit the sign and the note was both positioned in a way to add a focus on the two objects in the corner of the screen this was done to add another question to the thought of the audience adding another ambiguous edge to it as only pieces of the puzzle are being shown. From our research that we did on films we knew that giving too much away of a film was not good we wanted to constantly keep our viewers on their toes and not allow them to second guess anything too soon as this might make them loose interest. Close up on the mask, as a hand grabs it away from its hook. Directly behind it, is a Calendar can be seen with all the dates, clearly crossed out until a circles date; this reintroduces the black objects and adds more question into the viewers mind. The extreme close up of Ryan putting on the mask finally answers the question as to what the black object is and settles the mind of the viewers a bit but by answering one question it keeps them more intrigued as to what the rest is.
We used a tracking shot in this camera movement worked well as in the shot we added a pan to it this gave a flare to the screen and added a professional quality which was made out of sheer luck as we couldn’t entirely control the lightening we had as we were outside this shot also mixes in well with the music added as it suits the tempo of a soft relaxing children’s nursery rhyme as the ninja child walks away, we wanted a nursery song with a little twist to it and were lucky enough to find a Chinese school singing in Chinese what seemed like ‘frère Jacque’, this adds value to the opening sequence as it’s a recognizable song done in a different way this allows the audience to pay attention to the film as the song pans well with the movement of the opening sequence. The sound also works as there are varied moments in the son that moves well with different parts of the opening sequence so we had to cut them and edit them for it to perfectly mix in with the different shots we had. We added a time lapse shot of a tree and the clouds moving with this shot we wanted to show a good use of special effects to add an interesting feature to the film this would grab the attention of our viewers as it’s a unique to do. The slow pan across the wall with several posters on them this shows him to be into what his planning and preparation and to come across as to be very serious about what he is doing, this will intrigue viewers as it will cause question of what and why he is doing this. There is a new character introduced with a over the shoulder shot the coloring of this shot was fairly bright but we where able to target him pulling out his phone and checking the time, by adding a new character it opts more questions to be asked as to were he’s going but allows the viewers to get an impression of him being a business man it would intrigue them to know how he would relate to the ninja child.
